Assemblies are useful if you wish to group an action together into one item.
For example, you have a job to install a sink. Lets say that this job requires a sink, pipe, taps etc, and labour.
You have the capability of grouping all these individual units together and
you can simply add a single assembly with a single price to your quote (behind
the scenes, it actually adds all the stock and labour costs for the task, but
they are hidden for ease of use). The price
of this assembly will only be calculated when you add it to your quote. i.e., it will
always reflect the latest prices.
Once added to your quote, the assembly items can be manipulated without touching the
original assembly definition - which remains as your template. For example,
you may wish to install
a sink but have a different brand of sink to the one in your template. In this case all you
have to do is add the assembly to the breakdown of your quote, double-click on the quote
assembly, remove the sink entry,
and replace it with the new sink (using the Select Stock screen if you wish). The Assembly List screen The Assembly Details screen (in this case, showing the details for the
assembly labelled "Install Sink"). Note that the current price is being shown.
When the assembly is added to your quote, the latest prices from the
Stock Details screen are used.
